Keane and Carragher disagree over Jack Grealish and his potential Man Utd role
Manchester United legend Roy keane and Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher are in disagreement over a Red Devils move for Jack Grealish.
The Aston Villa midfielder has enjoyed an impressive season, hitting seven goals and 12 assists in 23 games before a leg injury put him out in February.
And it has led to speculation of an exit for the Englishman, with United one of the front-runners for his signature.
But an Old Trafford move for Grealish has seen Carragher and Keane lock horns.
The former Reds defender believes the midfielder would not fit in alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, telling Sky Sports : “I don’t think he would fit in here at Old Trafford just because of the players they’ve got, not his talent.
“They already have Pogba playing on the left now, Fernandes, [Marcus] Rashford likes to play on that side.
“I don’t think he’s a must for Manchester United, I think he’s definitely got the quality. I think Jack Grealish is someone who loves to run with the ball and I don’t think there’s too many players like that, I love watching him.
“I think he’s a super player, and when you run with the ball and dribble with the ball, you’re going to get people trying to take it off you.”
But Keane, who won the 1999 treble at United, was left in shock at his Sky Sports colleague.
The Irishman said: “Jack, not for Man United?
“So what, they’ve had Pogba for the last three or four years, has he got them anywhere near winning league titles? Absolutely not. I’d swap Grealish for Pogba tomorrow, absolutely.”
But Carragher said there were bigger problems elsewhere for United, with: “So would I! I’m not the biggest fan of Pogba, I’ve said that.
“If you’re Manchester United right now, I totally agree with Harry Kane coming in, I think United need a better version of [Edinson] Cavani, who doesn’t play every week because of his age.
“But in terms of bringing in a creative player, if Pogba moves on, why not, of course, but they’re talking about trying to tie him down to a contract so I don’t think it’ll be a must for the club right now.”
But Keane argued that United could use Grealish, responding: “Of course [they can all play together]. Why not?

“We look at the stats for Manchester United over the last few years, whether it’s getting to semi-finals or 10 league games where they’ve drawn, seven or eight of them have been 0-0.
“They’ve not had the quality in the crunch times.
“You can talk about Pogba, but they’ve not done it when they’ve had to do it. If Grealish comes in, get rid of one or two of them, get rid of Pogba, move him on.
“They’re talking about a contract, I think they’re worried because he’s into the last year, if they’re going to cash in on him, then do it this summer.
“You can’t have enough quality players at a club like Man United.”
