Juventus 'reject £86MILLION Liverpool bid for Federico Chiesa'

Juventus ‘reject £86MILLION Liverpool bid for Italy star Federico Chiesa after the winger’s scintillating performances during the Azzurri’s successful Euro 2020 campaign’

  • Reports in Italy suggest that Liverpool have made a blockbuster £86m offer
  • Chiesa was one of the star players of this summer’s European Championship
  • The flying winger won two man-of-the-match awards during the tournament

Juventus have reportedly rejected a stunning £86million Liverpool bid for star winger Federico Chiesa.

According to Italian paper Repubblica, Liverpool have offered 100million euros, which would have made it the joint-eighth most expensive deal of all time, matching those which took Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

That purported price would have made Chiesa the second-most expensive player of all time to move to a Premier League team, after Paul Pogba’s transfer to Manchester United, but the Italian giants are said to have turned the Reds down.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is thought to have considered Chiesa perfect for his 4-3-3 system

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is thought to have considered the versatile winger perfect for his 4-3-3 system, playing alongside or potentially replacing Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.

But new Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri, who returned to the club in May on a four-year deal two years after leaving, is said to consider Chiesa ‘non-transferable’, with club president Andrea Agnelli backing that decision.

The 23-year-old is considered one of the hottest properties in Europe after a series of scintillating performances at this summer’s European Championship tournament.

The Italian, 23, was one of the outstanding players at this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament

Roberto Mancini’s Italy won the competition, beating England 3-2 on penalties in the final, with Chiesa to the fore throughout and justifiably named in the UEFA Team of the Tournament.

He was man-of-the-match against Wales, scored against Austria, then was man-of-the-match and scored against Spain in the semi-final, before a fine attacking performance against the Three Lions in the final before he went off injured.

Repubblica later stated that a concrete offer for the 32-cap international, son of former Italy striker Enrico, was ‘inevitable’ after Euro 2020.
