Juventus ‘reject £85m bid’ from Chelsea for Euro 2020 hero Federico Chiesa

Juventus have rejected an £85million bid from Chelsea for Federico Chiesa, according to reports.

Chiesa, 23, was one of the stars of the European Championships, scoring twice in the knockout stage and earning plaudits for his exciting attacking play.

He was also named in the team of the tournament after Italy triumphed over England in the final at Wembley on Sunday.

Euro 2020 has brought Chiesa to the attention of some of Europe's big guns, but Juventus do not want to let him go.

The flying winger scored 16 times for the Old Lady last season and is seen as an important part of their plans going forward.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich splashed the cash in the transfer market 12 months ago and looks certain to back Thomas Tuchel this time around after the German boss delivered the Champions League to Stamford Bridge last season.

But they will have to try again for Chiesa after Juventus declined to even entertain talks, according to Bild.

Tuchel has made it clear that he would like to add new faces to his side this summer.

Do you think Chiesa would be a good signing for Chelsea? Let us know in the comments section.

"Two or three could be very, very good," he told reporters in May.

"It’s a constant thing to never deny change. That you always bring new energy, new guys who question the old beliefs, who challenge everybody in the training and in matches, so I think it’s a good thing.

"We don’t need another seven and another complete turnover because it's also our job to keep on improving, because we have still a young squad and it's not about stealing from them the chance to prove it again that they are capable of growing and evolving.

The Blues have kept their powder dry in the transfer market so far, with no arrivals of note.

Although Chiesa is now on their radar, it is believed the west Londoners remain interested in Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
