Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been heavily linked with the Germany job for a number of years. News that Joachim Low will leave his job this summer after the European Championship mean the role will become available and speculation regarding Klopp is likely to mount.
Klopp is under contract at Anfield until 2024 and has previously insisted he will not leave before his contract is up.
But with things beginning to unravel at Anfield, the 53-year-old could have the perfect escape and the chance to test himself in international management.
He has been quizzed about the possibility of taking the role plenty of times over the years and given some interesting answers.
Here’s everything Klopp has said about the Germany role.
JUST IN: Joachim Low to step down as Germany manager with Klopp linked
In 2014:
Links to the Germany job first emerged when Klopp was still at Borussia Dortmund back in 2014.
After seeing his national team knocked out of the World Cup, Klopp admitted the position was a “very attractive proposition”.
He then added: “If they were enthusiastic about me taking on the national team at some point I’d obviously think it over, although quite a lot of things would have to come together for that to happen.”

In 2019:
Jurgen Klopp was earmarked as the top target to replace Low after the 2022 World Cup back in 2019.
Asked about the possibility, Klopp told Magenta TV: “I really can not say. I do not know if I would like to.
“Now, as of today, I do not feel like it. Stand up now, I’m totally happy with what I do and that’s important in the whole story.
“I also could not say one hundred percent if I was the right one [to replace Low].
“If the question ever arises, I would think about it – but not now.”
It now seems the question has arisen, what will his answer be?
In 2020:
Germany’s 6-0 humiliation at the hands of Spain last year saw Low under increasing pressure and Klopp installed as the bookiers’ favourite to take over.
However, Klopp said he wouldn’t be interested in taking the reigns for the national job at the moment.
Klopp said: “Maybe in the future but now, no, because now I have no time.
“I also have a job – a pretty intense job by the way.
“I am not sure if anybody has asked after me but if they don’t know I have a job here at Liverpool – even though the weather is bad again!
“I like it and I am responsible for a lot of things here so I will not go and search for another challenge.”
