Jurgen Klopp sets two demands of Liverpool but admits ‘I’ve no clue’

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp issued two demands for his players after their faint top-four hopes received a boost on Monday night. The Reds thrashed Leeds United 6-1 at Elland Road, but Klopp admitted he had ‘no clue’ what it meant for their Premier League finish.
Liverpool ended a torrid five-game winless run in emphatic style in West Yorkshire, moving them two points behind Brighton and Hove Albion in eighth.
Klopp’s forwards were on fire. Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah bagged a brace each, while Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez also got in on the goals.
But with fourth-place Newcastle United still nine points ahead of Liverpool, the German isn’t sure whether the performance and result can inspire his side to forge an unlikely late bid for Champions League football.
After full-time, he told reporters: “I don’t know [if the result can inspire Liverpool]. It’s super important what’s happening from now on. I have no clue where we can end up this season.
“I don’t know because it depends massively on all the teams around us. There are so many teams that are in front of us, and they can win all their games.

“As long as we don’t play them, they could win all their games without us doing anything against that. But that’s, at this moment, not too important.
“It’s important what we showed in the second half against Arsenal because I think we agree that game could have gone either way. 2-0 down early, Arsenal were flying. They could’ve scored a third or a fourth, and you have a real problem.
“But we reacted well and got a point, which we deserved the least, I would say. And tonight, it’s super important to really understand what we got here.”

And Klopp, not thinking about the end of the season, has demanded two things from his stars: good football and more wins.
“We’ve played a really bad season, but some things are hard to explain, some things you definitely can explain and are not acceptable,” Klopp added.
“But now, when we put in good performances, we can understand what’s possible, and that’s really, really important for me, and that’s why I don’t think where we can push to or whatever.
“I just want us to play top football and win games, and then we will see where we end up.”
