Jurgen Klopp refuses to give public advice to Thomas Tuchel on Chelsea arrival
Jurgen Klopp has refused to give public advice to Thomas Tuchel as his fellow German manager was appointed at Chelsea.
The Blues have brought in the former Borussia Dortmund and PSG manager to take over from Frank Lampard.
And the 47-year-old has followed a carbon-copy career path to the Premier League winner, taking over Mainz a year after the Liverpool manager left before taking over at the Westfalenstadion five years ago.
Arriving at Stamford Bridge after two-and-a-half years with Les Parisians, Tuchel has a big job to get Chelsea back into the Champions League qualifying spot.
But Klopp has not given his compatriot any snippets of advice for the English top flight.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference for the Reds’ clash against Tottenham, the 53-year-old said: “I am not sure I need to give public advice. I don't have his English number.
“I was lucky with the clubs I was at. At Mainz, Dortmund and LFC the same. I got the time because owners thought we did the right stuff and knew it takes time.
"Tuchel is great, I respect him a lot. This Chelsea squad is a present, eh? I am pretty sure Thomas sees it that way. They will be good."
Tuchel replaced Lampard to take the job in west London after the Englishman had led the Blues to a league run of just two wins from eight games.
And the Reds boss took the chance to lay into owner Roman Abramovich for his management of players.
“Two things, Lampard has lost his job, I have to say that is a tough one,” Klopp added.
“I think Chelsea did an incredible job in the transfer market and it needed time. That's normal. It's really harsh to make the decision that early.
“Mr Abramovich gives chances but is not the most patient in the world. I feel for Frank, it is his club.
“How many coaches have Chelsea had in 15 years? You are successful or you are out.
“I have nothing to do with that. Plenty of times I was lucky with my clubs.
“For Frank, everything will be fine. The football people saw it and say there's a clear plan. He's a young manager.”
But the pair may not be in the Premier League for long as reports have emerged that Klopp is wanted in Germany.
