Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp refused to speak to one journalist after their 3-0 defeat to Wolves.

The Reds' nightmare run of form continued at Molineux on Saturday (February 4) as a Joel Matip own-goal and strikes from Craig Dawson and Ruben Neves gave strugglers Wolves all three points, putting more pressure on the under-fire Klopp.

During his post-match press conference he then had a frosty exchange with The Athletic reporter James Pearce, who had asked him if his side's poor starts to matches this season was a mentality issue. Klopp replied: "It's very difficult to talk to you if I'm 100% honest.

"I would prefer not to do that. You know why, for all the things you wrote. If somebody else wants to ask that question then I'll answer it."

Another journalist duly repeated the question and the German manager did respond. Klopp also raised eyebrows when he claimed Wolves' third goal "didn't count".

He told the BBC: "Conceding early goals is not unfamiliar to us but the way we conceded them today was not acceptable.

"When you see the whole game, throughout the game in moments we played an outstanding game without scoring and a good away game without scoring.

"The third goal I don't count because it was the first time they passed the halfway line in the second half. The other two goals, going into a game with all the things we said during the week and before the game then this is the start is horrible."

Wolves hit back with a social media post mocking Klopp. They updated their full-time graphic to cross out Neves' goal and changed the scoreline to 2-0, captioning it with a shrugging emoji.
