Jules Breach savagely taunts Steven Gerrard and Joe Cole during England coverage

Steven Gerrard and Joe Cole were cheekily mocked by Channel 4 host Jules Breach ahead of England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy.

The former England duo were joined by Lioness hero Jill Scott as pundits for the match in Naples, where Gareth Southgate's side secured a 2-1 victory. But Breach wasted no time in making a joke at their expense.

Breach trolled the pair by pointing out that Scott, who recently retired, actually won a major trophy with England in the form of last year’s women’s Euros – while Gerrard and Cole had nothing to show for their 170 combined caps.

As Breach was introducing the pundits, she quickly remarked: “I'm here alongside two members of the England golden generation… and someone who has actually won something in an England shirt, Jill Scott!”

The dig prompted laughs from all three pundits, while Chelsea legend Cole noted how “cruel” it was. Gerrard, meanwhile, explained how the reference was not in relation to Scott’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here win last year.

Scott in turn quipped: "That's fine, I'll just take the Euros that's fine.”

Clearly out for blood, Breach then made another crack at Cole for his bold choice of outfit, with the ex-Blues star having donned a striking blazer, khaki trousers and sockless loafers. She suggested Cole "can still kick a ball in loafers, no socks still.”

It comes after Cole was named by Sky Sports commentator Alan Smith as his favourite pundit, despite the winger working for Sky’s rivals Bt Sport.

“I love all our pundits…” Smith laughed. “I don’t think I could pick one out.

“Someone underrated who goes under the radar? I like Joe Cole. I like listening to Joe's analysis on BT. I’ll go with Joe!”
