Jose Mourinho has been using a scouting website to “study” Roma ahead of taking the job in the Italian capital.
The Portuguese boss was offered the job with the Serie A side just 15 days after being shown the door by Tottenham, having taken them to seventh in the Premier League and out of cup competitions.
It is the 58-year-old’s ninth different he has managed since first taking the helm at Benfica in 2000, with Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Inter on his CV.
But it seems that Mourinho is putting in the extra hours to make sure he is prepared to take Roma on, sharing a video on Instagram.
The manager was seen working on a laptop and using website Wyscout – a platform which provides in-depth data, stats and tools – to get the ins and outs of his new team.
He can be seen looking at the profile of full-back Riccardo Calafiori, provided with heat maps and videos focussed on his performances during matches.
Mourinho shared the video on his Instagram channel, where he has 2.2m followers, and simply added: “Studying”.
The Portuguese boss has a big challenge ahead of him, with Roma missing out on a place in the European competitions for the first time in seven years.
And he was announced just three hours after the Italian side announced that Paulo Fonseca would leave the club at the end of the season.
Mourinho, who has said ahead of his return to Italy: “Thank you to the Friedkin family for choosing me to lead this great club and to be part of their vision.
“After meetings with the ownership and Tiago Pinto, I immediately understood the full extent of their ambitions for AS Roma.

"It is the same ambition and drive that has always motivated me and together we want to build a winning project over the upcoming years.
“The incredible passion of the Roma fans convinced me to accept the job and I cannot wait to start next season.
“In the meantime, I wish Paulo Fonseca all the best and I hope the media appreciate that I will only speak further in due course. Daje Roma!”
Mourinho’s new job with Roma also makes him the third highest-paid manager in football, having agreed a three-year deal worth £7m each year.
