Jorginho’s incredible Euro 2020 stats prove his worth to Italy and Chelsea
Italy have made a flying start to their Euro 2020 campaign under Roberto Mancini – and Jorginho has been instrumental in their success so far.
The Azzurri enjoyed a dominant group-stage campaign, cruising to wins over Turkey, Switzerland and Wales without conceding a single goal.
Mancini's men have therefore emerged as one of the favourites to go all the way and lift the trophy on July 11, with Austria up next in the last-16 on Saturday night.
The likes of Manuel Locatelli, Lorenzo Insigne and Ciro Immobile have gained most of the plaudits so far, but stats show that Jorginho has been one of Italy's key men in the middle of the park.
The Chelsea star leads all Azzurri players at Euro 2020 for passes (230), successful passes (190), forward passes (60), interceptions (7) and tackles (5) – which certainly proves his worth to the Group A winners.
He came into the tournament on the back of a superb end to the season with Chelsea, playing an integral part in their Champions League triumph under Thomas Tuchel.

The 29-year-old produced impressive displays alongside N'Golo Kante in midfield as the Blues saw off Atletico Madrid, Porto, Real Madrid and Manchester City to clinch their second European Cup.
And according to Italy team-mate Insigne, Jorginho has performed well enough in 2021 to be nominated for this year's Ballon d'Or awards.
"He has spent some fantastic years at Chelsea and I am proud to have him in our team," the forward said of his former Napoli teammate at a press conference before their clash with Austria on Saturday.
"I’m not the one deciding if he deserves the Ballon d’Or, but I hope he’ll be shortlisted, he deserves so, he is a great player. I call him the professor and we are all happy to play with him."

However, the midfield general recently suggested he will be staying at Stamford Bridge next season by insisting he wants to enjoy more "special moments" in west London.
