Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has been proven right with his recent comments about Frank Lampard, according to former Blues striker Tony Cascarino. Legendary former Chelsea star Lampard was sacked by the Stamford Bridge club in January, with his side ninth in the Premier League table. Thomas Tuchel replaced Lampard and has had a monumental impact on the west Londoners.

Chelsea have kept 11 clean sheets in their first 15 league matches under Tuchel.

The German has led the Blues to fourth in the table and in a great position to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Chelsea are also in the final of the FA Cup, where they face Leicester later this month, and the semi-final of the Champions League where they take a 1-1 draw back to Stamford Bridge against Real Madrid this week.

Jorginho fell out of favour under Lampard but has enjoyed a new lease of life since Tuchel’s appointment.

Speaking in April, the Italy star claimed Lampard was not ready to take a job as big as Chelsea’s after only one year of senior management behind him.

“Look, I’ll be really sincere here on Lampard,” Jorginho told ESPN Brasil.

“I believe, given he was a legend at the club, he skipped some steps necessary for learning before moving to a big club.

“He came to a club where he is a legend, without having experience at other clubs.

“I think he came too soon, skipped a few steps ahead and wasn’t ready for a job at this level, to be honest.”

Speaking on Saturday, Cascarino believes Jorginho’s comments are not out of place.

He says Chelsea look a far more organised side since Tuchel took over from Lampard.

“Defensively, they are far superior and far more tactically nous within the team,” Cascarino said.

“That’s putting it harsh on Frank, he might take that in a way that’s uncomfortable.

“But apart from the West Brom game, if you watch them play, you can tell there have been huge amounts of work done on the training ground.

“I’m not saying Frank didn’t do it, but I think there’s an experience.

“When you have players like Jorginho saying Frank wasn’t ready for the job – I don’t think he was ready for the job and I don’t think Jody Morris was.

“You cannot deny Chelsea are much tougher to play. Look at their goals against column, it’s a massive difference.”
