Jordan Henderson outlines Liverpool’s five-point plan to address current slump
Jordan Henderson has challenged his Liverpool teammates to tackle five key areas in order to address their current slump.
The reigning champions are without a win in their last four Premier League matches and have scored just once in that time.
After topping the table at Christmas, the Reds are now six points off league leaders Man Utd down in fourth.
But they have a chance to narrow the gap on their rivals in their game in hand against Burnley on Thursday, and Henderson has outlined how Liverpool plan to get back to winning ways.
“Individually our first look will always be at ourselves and collectively we will always look at what improvements are required as a team," Henderson wrote in his official programme notes.
“Another thing that we will not do is buy into the negativity that seems to be part-and-parcel of the reaction in certain quarters whenever any of the bigger clubs don’t win a particular game or go through a testing period. It’s not all doom and gloom."
Henderson cited the troublesome injury problems that have hampered the club this season, and the fact youngsters have had to step up while senior members of the squad have been used in unfamiliar roles.

Virgil van Dijk's season was ended by injury in the 2-2 draw at Everton, leaving the title favourites looking far less secure at the back – especially with Alisson's injury worries too.
But there's no slowing down in what is going to be a busy campaign – with Klopp ensuring his men continue at full pace as they bid for more title glory.

Nevertheless, as Henderson noted, Liverpool have still only suffered two defeats this season, and have conceded just twice in their last five matches; all of which he feels the club can build on moving forward.
The Reds' skipper then detailed the elements Liverpool are focused on getting right to aid their cause.

"Being more ruthless in front of goal, making better decisions in the final third, giving our attackers better support, playing with confidence and belief at all times and remembering the qualities that have served us so well would all make a positive difference right now."
Henderson is expected to be switched back to his more familiar midfield role on Thursday after deputising in defence for two successive fixtures.
Centre-back Joel Matip is fit again after injury and is likely to start alongside Fabinho in the back four.
