Jordan Henderson has revealed that England have already been keeping a close eye on Denmark as the two nations prepare to face off in Wednesday’s Euro 2020 semi-final. The Three Lions booked their place in the last four of the competition with an emphatic 4-0 win over Ukraine on Saturday evening in Rome.
Harry Kane scored twice with Harry Maguire and Henderson adding some gloss to the scoreline to seal England’s involvement in a second major tournament semi-final in three years.
The result saw Gareth Southgate’s side build on their historic win over Germany with another hugely impressive performance to down Ukraine, who were playing in their first Euros quarter-final, with ease.
England will now face Denmark on Wednesday in order to decide which team will battle Italy or Spain in the final next Sunday.
Speaking after the full-time whistle at the Stadio Olimpico, Henderson warned that the Danes will pose a tricky challenge, stressing that England will need to be at their very best in order to get a result under the lights at Wembley.
The Liverpool skipper, who scored his first international goal on Saturday evening, also admitted that Wednesday’s opponents have already been scrutinised by the Three Lions camp ahead of their next meeting.

“We’ve always felt we’re continuing to grow and improve as a team and that’s important,” Henderson told reporters.
“I feel as though we’re ready now to take the next step but it’ll be a really tough test against Denmark.
“They’re a really good side, we played against them not so long ago and we’ve seen a lot of the games.
“They’re a tough side so we need to be at our very best if we’re going to progress to the final, but hopefully we can do that and get a good result.”
England have previously beaten Denmark on 12 occasions, losing four times, and faced Kasper Hjulmand’s men twice last year in Nations League action.
The Three Lions were held to a goalless draw in Copenhagen before tasting defeat a month later at Wembley thanks to a Christian Eriksen penalty.
However, all involved with England will be hoping for a different outcome on Wednesday as Southgate attempts to emulate the late Sir Alf Ramsey by leading his country into a major tournament final for only the second time.
The unity of the camp has been shining through this summer, much like it did three years ago at the World Cup, and the team’s willingness to fight tooth and nail for each other will stand them in good stead to overcome their upcoming Danish challenge.
Henderson went on to highlight the importance of strong bonds in fuelling trophy-winning campaigns, admitting that even England’s fringe players have been second to none in their approach to the Euros this summer.
“That’s important in tournament football,” added the 31-year-old. “You’re away for a long period of time and there’s certain players who aren’t playing as much as what they may have liked.
“We’ve got so many good players in the squad but I’ve got to say the lads who haven’t been playing as much have been outstanding.
“Training hard, which you might not see from the outside. Training hard during the week, doing extra work, and being for the lads who are playing and supporting them in the changing room.
“You can see the celebrations when the goals go in, and that’s the best squad I’ve seen in terms of that in a tournament and we’re getting our rewards for it so far.
“We need to continue that to go into the biggest game of our lives on Wednesday and give absolutely everything to try and get into a final.”
