Former Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard has been banned from the roads for six months after trying to fool police with a fake identity.
The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to 'failing to name a driver of his car' after it was caught speeding in August 2022. Lingard's Range Rover was flashed on the A56 in Trafford last year, but it was the events that followed that landed him in even hotter water.
The Sun reported that when quizzed on the matter by police, Lingard submitted 'the name of a man who doesn't exist'. He then also gave a fake address to complete the attempted ruse, responding on the form with details 'believed to be a car park'.
As well as being suspended from driving for six months, Lingard was fined £900 (plus a further £560 in court costs) at Manchester Magistrates' Court. Lingard's two previous speeding offences meant he was banned due to the 'totting up' process.

The former West Ham loanee – who is a free agent after being released by Nottingham Forest this summer – looked solemn as he turned up for court on Friday.
Lingard's barrister, Frank Rogers, argued the documents asking for the driver information had been sent to his client's Manchester address. However, it was alleged Lingard didn't see the letter because he was already living in Nottingham at the time.
News of Lingard's ban from the roads isn't likely to aid his search for a new club this summer, with the 32-cap England international on the lookout for employment.
The Warrington native signed a one-year contract with Forest last season but managed only 17 league appearances for the club, struggling with a hamstring injury before falling down Steve Cooper's pecking order. The Reds opted to not extend Lingard's stay at The City Ground considering he struggled to justify his status as the squad's top earner.
Despite the uncertainty over his future, Lingard appears to be keeping on top of his training and recently posted footage of his training regime in Marrakech. That's after training alongside fellow United alumnus Ravel Morrison and holidaying with ex-team-mate Paul Pogba in Miami.
Away from the field, Lingard has also teased his own team is in the works, which would all but guarantee him minutes: "New football team in the South Manchester area. Trials to be announced soon. JLingz FC. Heart of the Community."
