Jamie Carragher has berated Manchester United’s Casemiro for producing his worst performance of the season against Liverpool during Sunday’s 7-0 Premier League hammering.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher watched on from the gantry as Liverpool tore their fierce rivals apart, with Casemiro and his colleagues being overran inside a cauldron of noise at Anfield.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher said: ‘Casemiro has been one of the best players in the league this season, but he was very very poor on Sunday.
‘You could see he wasn’t at the races. A player of his class shouldn’t give the ball away the way he did,’ said Carragher.
‘He was supposed to look after Harvey Elliott, but he made it too easy for him. The second goal is the killer for United. Casemiro couldn’t get near anyone, he’s fallen over twice.

‘To quote Gary Neville, it was scabby. It was his worst game for passing, he didn’t win one tackle. This is away at Liverpool.
‘It shows how important he is to Manchester United. They lose to Man City without him, he’s not at the races at Anfield and they concede seven,’ he added.
Casemiro has been one of the English top-flight’s signings of the season after moving to Old Trafford from Real Madrid in a £60m summer deal.
The Brazilian has been influential to the club’s revival under Erik ten Hag, helping United lift the League Cup and adding much-needed quality to the club’s midfield that has seen them rise to a surprising third in the Premier League standings.
The 30-year-old has made 35 appearances in all competitions so far this season and was included in FIFA’s recent ‘Best’ world XI, however endured an afternoon to forget in front of the Kop.
He was rescued by United boss Ten Hag with the score at just 5-0 and had to watch from the bench as Liverpool added two more strikes before full-time.

It was the defensive midfielder’s worst performance for his new club, as was the case with the rest of his team-mates who were humiliated in a seven-goal mauling.
Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, and Mohamed Salah all ran riot as Liverpool’s trio of attackers clicked in their best showing of the season.
Carragher highlighted Dutchman Gakpo’s deployment by Reds boss Jurgen club and labelled him the ‘big revelation for Liverpool’.
Casemiro and his Man United colleagues won’t have time to sulk however with LaLiga outfit Real Betis visiting Old Trafford on Thursday in a Europa League last 16 tie.
