Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish returned to training on Monday following six weeks out with a leg injury.

The 25-year-old has been absent for his side since suffering an injury before Villa’s 2-1 defeat by Leicester City on February 21.

Their talisman returning will be welcome news to Villa, who have won just once and scored two goals in six games during that time.

The talisman suffered a leg injury in February and has missed the club’s last six games

The club’s official account tweeted: ‘Our captain, Jack Grealish, returned to first-team training at Bodymoor Heath on Monday’ alongside a video of him back out on the grass with his team-mates once again.

The injury also kept him out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad after forcing his way into the Three Lions side in the previous three international breaks.

His absence from the squad was to ensure he is back in time for the return of club action, and he is expected to be fit to face Fulham on Sunday.

News of Grealish’s initial injury was leaked on social media in the lead-up to the Leicester clash after several team-mates and staff members transferred him out of their Fantasy Premier League teams.

The mercurial midfielder was enjoying a stunning season prior to the setback after helping Villa into the top half.

The boyhood Villa fan has 18 goal involvements in 22 games in the Premier League this season, already the best return of his career.

He is expected to make the Three Lions 23-man squad for the European Championships in the summer despite his current absence.
