Inter Milan’s furious ultras send warning over Romelu Lukaku’s return to Chelsea

Inter Milan's ultras have unveiled a banner outside the club's headquarters warning them over the potential sale of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea.

The Belgian striker has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge after seven years away and has reportedly asked the club to accept a suitable bid for his services if they receive one.

Chelsea have already seen a bid worth £85million rebuffed this week and are expected to go back in with another bid in the region of £95million.

Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso has also been used as part of previous bids for Lukaku as the Blues try to lower the fee they will have to pay.

Inter ultras group Curva Nord 69 made their feelings on the Lukaku rumours known to the club's hierarchy on Tuesday as they placed a large banner opposite their headquarters in Milan.

The banner reads "Societa… attenzione… le promesse vanno mantenute. CN69," which translates into English as "Company… attention… the promises must be kept. CN69."

Prior to the start of the transfer window, the Inter board promised that they would only let one major player depart the club this summer, despite their financial issues.

However, after Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi joined Paris Saint-Germain for £54million in July, the sale of Lukaku would break this promise and the supporters have not hesitated to show their frustration with this.

Whilst a fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs, an agreement is believed to be edging nearer after Lukaku stated his desire to return to west London on Tuesday and he is ready to accept the personal terms proposed by the European champions, worth a reported £10million a year.

Lukaku originally joined Chelsea as an 18-year-old from Anderlecht in 2011 but failed to score in 15 appearances over three years with the club.

He was sold to Everton in 2014 for £32million after a successful loan spell and went on to join Manchester United before arriving at Inter in 2019 for £66million.

The Belgium international has gone on to score 64 goals and provide 16 assists in 95 appearances for Nerazzurri, including 30 strikes last season as they won their first league title in 11 years under Antonio Conte.

These goals were enough to see him win the Serie A player of the year award and finish second in the goal scoring charts.

A return to Chelsea may also have been earned and if £95million proves enough for Inter to sell then Lukaku's career cumulative transfer fees will reach a staggering £285million.
