  • Inter Miami were interested in taking the left-back but couldn’t agree to terms
  • Albion were hoping to bring Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso in as his replacement
  • The Baggies will now let Gibbs leave in the summer once his contract expires
  • David Beckham’s MLS side are now reportedly looking at a free move in June

David Beckham’s Inter Miami are reportedly eyeing up a move for West Brom defender Kieran Gibbs on a free this summer after they failed to sign the left-back in the January transfer window.

The Baggies were ready to let Gibbs leave last month in an attempt to get his huge wages off their books but failed to agree terms with the MLS franchise over a move, according to The Athletic.

The report goes on to claim that the terms on offer also didn’t suit Gibbs, who will now see out the remaining five months of his Baggies deal.

Relegation-threatened Albion are happy to allow Gibbs to leave on a free this summer with the 31-year-old currently one of the club’s highest earners.

With Gibbs entering the final six months of his deal, he is free to talk to other clubs.

Inter Miami will reportedly try their luck again to convince the former Arsenal man to join the cause in June.

The Baggies were looking to bring in Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso as his replacement last month but the Spaniard’s resurrection under Thomas Tuchel has ended any promise of that move happening in the summer.

Since playing all four of the Baggies’ games leading up to transfer deadline day, Gibbs has been now been ousted from the team by Conor Townsend.

The full-back was not on the bench for the club’s 2-0 defeat by Tottenham and Sunday and now will not have to play a bit part for the rest of the campaign.

Gibbs, who has won two FA Cups and two Community Shields with Arsenal, has made 100 appearances for the Baggies since his move from the Emirates in 2017.
