Ian Wright blasts 'disgraceful' Leicester fans for abusing him and Roy Keane
Ian Wright was left reeling at the behaviour of ‘disgraceful’ Leicester fans during their Community Shield win over Manchester City.
Wright, the former Arsenal striker, was working as a pundit for ITV alongside Emile Heskey and Roy Keane and branded Leicester supporters as ‘complete mugs’ live on the channel.
After the match, Wright took to social media to explain why he had criticised Leicester’s fans who made the trip to Wembley.
Wright says that he and Roy Keane, the former Manchester United, were abused during the match and that a section of their support hat ‘let themselves down’.
‘Let me just clear that up because obviously Leicester fans know how much respect I’ve got for them, their owners and constantly bigging them and what they do,’ Wright said in a video posted to his Twitter account.
‘Really disappointed, really disappointed on the day, what was a fantastic day for Leicester City fans, them fans in front of those kids, throwing the stuff down what they were doing, mouthing and shouting what they were shouting, disgraceful behaviour man.
‘Leicester shouldn’t be acting like that, certain fans you don’t represent Leicester.’
The incident marred what was a fine day for The Foxes.
They defeated Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions 1-0, with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring a late penalty to decide the match.
