Veteran former Brazil star Hulk thunders home a 40-YARD free-kick to ruin Lucas Moura and James Rodriguez’s Sao Paulo debuts and help Atletico Mineiro to 2-0 win
- James Rodriguez and Lucas Moura were unveiled at Sao Paulo in princely style
- However, Hulk stole the show as he scored a stunning long-range free-kick
- Sao Paulo fell to a 2-0 defeat and saw their winless run extended to five games
Lucas Moura and James Rodriguez were given an extravagant welcome in front of the Sao Paulo fans, but it was Hulk who stole the show.
The two former Premier League stars were unveiled in a shower of confetti after joining the Brazilian club, however on the pitch there was little cause for celebration.
Hulk dispatched a sensational free-kick into the top corner just four minutes in to rain on the parade, with Moura making his debut and Rodriguez watching on from the stands.
Sao Paulo eventually fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Hulk’s Atletico Mineiro and saw their winless run extended to five games.
Hulk has been tearing it up in his homeland for three seasons now after spells across Europe and Asia, and has scored 22 goals this season.
Lucas Moura was presented to Sao Paulo fans before kick-off but his debut ended in defeat
James Rodriguez also received a king’s welcome but took in proceedings from the stands
Moura will be hoping to imitate that sort of form after returning to Sao Paulo after 11 years away.
The former Champions League finalist left Tottenham this summer after a mixed spell in London.
Rodriguez did not feature against Atletico Mineiro as he is still building his fitness.
The Colombian playmaker was released by Olympiacos in April and has not played competitive football since then.
