Roy Hodgson is on course to stay at Crystal Palace for another season, with the club ready to handing the veteran coach a 12-month deal.
The 75-year-old will hold talks with chairman Steve Parish in the coming days about the Eagles’ plans for next season.
Hodgson has steered Palace to Premier League safety since replacing Patrick Vieira on an interim basis with a brilliant run of five wins in eight victories.
Palace initially viewed Hodgson’s return to south London as a stop gap before appointing a permanent head coach ahead of next season.
But there is now a feeling at Selhurst Park that Hodgson’s positive impact since his arrival in March means the former England boss should be afforded the opportunity to take charge of the team next season if he has the appetite to do so.

Mail Sport reported this week that Hodgson, who is relaxed about his future, is open to extending his stay in south London next season.
The forthcoming talks will centre around whether Hodgson wants to remain in charge next season; if he indicates he would like to continue working there is a strong chance that he stays.
Palace have started the process of identifying potential longer-term candidates with Adi Hutter, Steve Cooper and Kieran McKenna among the names admired.
But if Hodgson indicates a willingness to continue in the role, he is likely to stay.
