Harry Maguire’s instructions to Marcus Rashford seconds before Man Utd opener

Manchester United reclaimed second spot in the Premier League table with a battling 3-1 win over Newcastle United.

Coming off the back of successive draws in the league, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s knew only a win would see them leapfrog Leicester City.

With Manchester City now ten points clear, it is likely that the Red Devils’ best possible finish will be as runners-up and they are now back in the driving seat.

But it wasn’t plain sailing for Solskjaer’s side as they endured a wretched start at Old Trafford, struggling to string passes together against the struggling Magpies.

However, on the stroke of the half hour mark, Rashford took over to score a wonderful individual strike.

Picking the ball up on the left flank, Rashford nutmegged Emil Krafth, before firing into Karl Darlow’s bottom corner.

And in a video released on TikTok, Man United skipper Harry Maguire’s role was made clear to see.

When Rashford first collects the ball, Maguire is heard bellowing, “Get in the box!”, before instructing him to ‘take him on’ and then ‘shoot’.
