Harry Maguire rates Liverpool star Jordan Henderson’s performance at centre-back
Harry Maguire highlighted Liverpool's "great defensive record" in spite of their defensive injuries as he rated Jordan Henderson's performance at centre-back.
Due to injuries to senior central defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, Jurgen Klopp has turned to a number of stand-in options this season.
Teenager Rhys Williams and regular Under-23s player Nat Phillips have featured heavily, while Henderson has played alongside Fabinho in Liverpool's last two Premier League games.
The makeshift pairing kept a clean sheet as Liverpool drew 0-0 with Manchester United at Anfield, and Red Devils defender Maguire is confident Henderson can continue to play in defence going forward.
The United skipper told Sky Sports : "There is a lot of talk of Liverpool being without their first-choice centre-halves but they've had a great defensive record since these injuries.
"It just shows that they have lots of options there. Jordan's gone in there and I've played with him numerous times and he can play in there.
"We knew they were short on centre-halves but like I said they've got lots of options."
Maguire also stressed United's second-half improvement as he compared Sunday's 0-0 draw with the 2-0 defeat at Anfield last season.
