Harry Kane angered Jose Mourinho with previous self-isolation mishap

Harry Kane missed training for the second day in a row today as the England skipper looks to force through a move to Manchester City.

The 28-year-old has made it clear to Spurs that he wants to leave the club to win top honours but he’s stopped short of handing in a transfer request as he believes he has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with chairman Daniel Levy that would allow him to leave.

But it emerged today that – added to Kane’s absence from training – is the fact the England captain is in self-isolation after his vacation in the Caribbean and only a negative test on day-five will allow him to return to first-team training this weekend.

That would mean Kane will miss at least five days of training but he must now complete a 10-day isolation period as he’s entering the UK from an amber list destination – though a negative test can cut short that period.

Regardless, the nature of Kane’s return raises suspicions that he never planned on returning to training on Monday and it’s been revealed that the striker has previous in this department.

According to the Athletic, Jose Mourinho was furious with Kane at the start of last season after he returned late from his holidays in the Bahamas after the UK government changed travel policy during his stay in the Caribbean.

While that’s not exactly Kane’s fault, the striker missed a chunk of pre-season training as he had to isolate for a fortnight on his return.

Mourinho was furious as his side started the season with a 1-0 defeat to Everton and he seen shouting ‘Come on, let’s make a fucking effort, eh?’ at Kane during the early minutes of the game against the Toffees.

Kane is keen on joining City but he has three years to run on his deal at Spurs and Levy does not want to lose the striker.

The England forward is valued at around £150m by Spurs, which City will not stretch to.
