Hargreaves left red-faced after raving about wrong player prior to Man City game
Owen Hargreaves left fans cringing after raving about Ruben Dias rather than Luis Diaz in the build-up to Manchester City's clash with Sporting Lisbon.
The former Manchester United midfielder was in the BT Sport studio ahead of City's bid to seal a spot in the Champions League quarter finals.
Dias was handed the captain's armband for City's trip to Portugal on Tuesday night.
But Hargreaves got himself into a mess when discussing the Portuguese defender while BT were showing clips of Liverpool's new attacker.
When asked by Jake Humphreys for his take on Liverpool's Diaz, Hargreaves responded: "Every team needs a captain, and he's their captain.
"Look at Manchester United and the issues they've had, having a leader like this is so important."
But after apparently realising his error, Hargreaves corrected himself mid-speech and began to discuss Liverpool's new £39million man.
He went on: "Diaz, he's such a great addition to Liverpool, he's probably not going to play every week is he? But he's a great addition, he gives them a different weapon. The ability to rotate these player in and out is just off the charts."

While Diaz has only just touched down in England after his switch from Porto last month, Dias has established himself as one of the finest defenders in the top-flight.
And his importance to City was further underlined after Pep Guardiola handed him the captain's armband for the midweek trip to Lisbon.
While Guardiola has enjoyed unprecedented success since he was appointed by the club, the Spaniard has been unable to guide City to Champions League glory.
But Guardiola has insisted that he isn't bothered by people asking him about City's Champions League failures.

"Ask whatever you want, as many time as you want," the City chief said prior to Tuesday's clash.
"It doesn't bother me, it means we are here in the Champions League.
"It's an honour to travel to Portugal to try and win the game. On the pitch we take chances, the rest is open to read and write.
