Arsenal flop Matteo Guendouzi facing new crisis after row and manager sacked

Matteo Guendouzi’s loan move to Hertha Berlin hasn’t gone to plan – and it could now get even worse for the Arsenal outcast.

Guendouzi headed to the Bundesliga side on a season-long loan back in October, though the club have struggled in recent weeks.

The midfielder has scored twice in 13 appearances since moving to Germany with there having been talk about him returning to the Emirates this month.

That seems unlikely with Mikel Arteta have frozen Guendouzi out after the player allegedly boasted about his wages to Brighton’s Neal Maupay.

Though Guendouzi could see his spot at Hertha Berlin under threat with the club sacking boss Bruno Labbadia.

Labbadia was shown the door after picking up just one win from their last eight games.

A 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Werder Bremen on Saturday proved to be the final straw, while Guendouzi also hit the headlines during the defeat to Hoffenheim last Tuesday.

The Arsenal man was seen arguing with team-mate Matheus Cunha at half-time with his team going on to lose 3-0.

On Labbadia’s sacking, Hertha chairman Carsten Schmidt said: “Week in, week out, Bruno and his coaching staff have invested a lot of hard work into the team’s development and we would like to thank him greatly for that.

“Ultimately, however, the return of 17 points from 18 games leaves us in a very precarious situation.

“After much deliberation, we feel that a change of head coach can give the team fresh impetus. We will clarify his successor as head coach in the coming days.”
