Bruno Fernandes has been lauded by pundits after his performance against Real Betis in Thursday’s Europa League clash.
The midfielder scored one and assisted another as United won 4-1 at Old Trafford.
It was the perfect response to their 7-0 loss to Liverpool at the weekend, after which Fernandes was heavily criticised.
‘Bruno Fernandes was at the heart of everything that was good for Man United today.’ said Owen Hargreaves on BT Sport.
‘Antony had his moments, like [he did against] Barcelona, his goal though is all Bruno Fernandes.

Owen Hargreaves said the Portuguese midfielder was ‘the best player on the pitch’
‘Bruno had a two minute spell where he was unplayable and every touch was perfect.’
As United captain, Fernandes was especially under fire on Saturday, when the club recorded their heaviest defeat since 1931.
His body language was heavily criticised by ex-players including Gary Neville and Patrice Evra, who said he would not pick the Portuguese star if he was his manager.
It was a different story on Thursday, though, as Hargreaves described the 28-year-old as the ‘best player on the pitch’.
Paul Scholes also praised the confidence Fernandes showed in his preferred role as he added: ‘He was brilliant in that central midfield role. He played bit deeper than Fred and showed great composure, which is what you want from United captain.’
Erik ten Hag’s side will next be in action when they face Southampton on Sunday, before travelling to Spain for a second leg against Betis next Thursday.
