Hakim Ziyech is reportedly closing in on a move away from Chelsea after the Blues reached an agreement in principle with Galatasaray for the winger.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are approaching the deal with caution, and there are still some details of the deal to be finalised, but Ziyech is set to undergo a medical.

Chelsea’s caution is understandable given that Ziyech has narrowly missed out on two moves in recent months.

The Moroccan star looked set to join PSG on loan in January, but the transfer fell through on deadline day, with the French giants accusing Chelsea of sending them unsigned documents twice to scupper the move.

Ziyech was then on the verge of joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr earlier this summer, in a switch that would have seen him earn £9m net each year.

However, the deal collapsed after a knee problem was raised in his medical.

It could be a case of third time lucky for Ziyech as he edges nearer to joining Galatasaray.

The 30-year-old arrived at Chelsea in 2020, but his Premier League career has failed to take off.

In 107 appearances for the west London club, Ziyech has scored just 14 goals.

He fell down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge last season, featuring in just 18 league games as Chelsea finished down in 12th place.

He was left out of the squad for their opening game of this season against Liverpool on Sunday, and his time at Chelsea now looks to be nearing the end.
