Grealish stunned at being Manchester City's new No 10

‘That’s made my year!’ Jack Grealish is STUNNED to find out he will wear the No 10 jersey for Manchester City after sealing his £100m move from Aston Villa, with Pep Guardiola insisting the club are ‘convinced’ he do the shirt justice

Jack Grealish revealed his shock at finding out he will be wearing the No 10 jersey at his new club Manchester City, admitting that the news ‘has made my year’.

In a video released by the club, Grealish is seen walking into an office room, with a screen projecting his image in his new sky blue colours. In the middle hangs his City shirt with ‘Grealish 10’ on the back.

Looking genuinely stunned, Grealish turns and says to someone off-camera: ‘I didn’t even know I was going to be No 10!’

Grealish is completely stunned and says the surprise ‘has made my day, made my year actually’

‘That’s made my day that. That’s made my year actually,’ Grealish continued, which is quite some statement given the £100million ex-Aston Villa star played for England in their first major final in more than 50 years in June.

Grealish takes the shirt vacated by City legend Sergio Aguero, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season.

While it is a huge mantle to take on, Grealish’s new manager Pep Guardiola expressed complete faith in his record-breaking signing to deliver the goods at the Etihad for many years to come.

‘He’s 26 years old, he can play the next six or seven years here and we have an incredibly huge talent,’ he said. ‘Not just the skills, the mentality. He is the No 10 because we’re convinced with Grealish.

‘Jack could have decided whatever he wanted. He said he wanted Man City. It’s an honour and hopefully he can settle as quickly as possible.’

Grealish has previously said that he could play in a No 8 position if Guardiola asked him to, but taking the No 10 shirt suggests the 26-year-old is set to play higher up the pitch.

While the hefty price tag and the No 10 jersey indicates Grealish will be a first-team regular, he has plenty of competition from the likes of Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus.

Bernardo Silva, another potential rival, may be on his way out of City.
