Departing Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is already drawing interest after playing his final Premier League game for the Reds. The Dutchman had a highly-successful five year stay at Anfield, winning both the Premier League and the Champions League.

But despite his importance to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, the 30-year-old was unable to come to an agreement with the club over a contract extension.

Though his summer departure has been on the cards for some time, Wijanldum has continued to be an important part of Klopp’s side.

He did not miss a game in the Premier League, even being named captain for five of the Reds’ final six games.

But the Dutchman made it clear that he would be leaving Liverpool at the close of the season ahead of their final match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Wijnaldum was once again named captain, leading his side to a win which confirmed an unlikely place in the top four.

His impressive performances during his spell with Klopp’s side means he will not be short of offers, which are already flying in.

Spanish news organisation Sport report that Bayern Munich have already tabled a contract offer to the Dutchman.

In addition to that, he is also claimed to have had offers from two Premier League clubs, though it would appear unlikely he will stay in England having become a fan favourite at Liverpool.

Bayern are not the only European giants interested in signing Wijnaldum, with Sport also stating that Barcelona set to step up their efforts.

Barca boss Ronald Koeman is a long-time admirer of the midfielder, having managed him during his spell in charge of the Dutch national team.

It is claimed that the La Liga giants have been talking to Wijnaldum for a significant amount of time, though no agreement has yet been reached.

The player’s representatives flew out to Spain to negotiate with Barca chiefs, who are still unsure over whether they want to complete a deal.

Though they have not ruled out a deal and he is a player who Koeman rates highly, Barça are believed to be prioritising signing younger players in midfield.

They are reportedly considering alternatives, but with the club being in such dire financial straits, other options are not forthcoming

Barca’s indecision has led to Wijnaldum’s agents demanding that they now make a final decision on their interest with other clubs circling.

The Dutchman is keen to decide on his future club within the next fortnight, so that he can fully concentrate on Holland’s participation in Euro 2020.
