Getafe tease Bale with bespoke tweet after Wales legend ‘offers himself’ to club
Spanish outfit Getafe have shared a mischievous tweet on their social media account amid talk of their interest in Gareth Bale.
Bale is on the hunt for a new club after it was confirmed earlier this month that he was leaving Getafe's neighbours, Real Madrid. The Welsh wizard had spent nine years at the Bernabeu following his mega-bucks transfer from Tottenham back in 2013.
Getafe president Angel Torres claimed earlier this week that he'd received an approach from Bale's representatives, claiming, via the Daily Mail: “I spoke with the player's agent this morning. He has been offered to us. We will consider it. I am going to have to speak to the technical staff.”
And the Spanish club had a little fun with the transfer rumour on their social media account on Wednesday evening. They poked fun at Bale's famous 'Wales, Golf, Madrid' flag by tweeting: "Getafe Getafe Getafe – in that order," teasing that Getafe would be the 32-year-old's main priority going forward.
Unfortunately, the hype that the social media post created was short-lived after Bale's representative, Jonathan Barnett, moved to quash any talk of a move to Getafe.
Despite reports that Bale is keen to stay in Madrid, and that Getafe is just 20 minutes from the winger's Madrid pad, Barnett insisted that a move to the Spanish minnows isn't on the cards. He said: “I don’t even have the president of Getafe’s number."

Bale has already been linked with a host of clubs after he helped Wales book their spot at the World Cup last week. The veteran had been tipped to retire if Rob Page's side had failed to qualify for the showpiece tournament, which is due to kick off in Qatar in November.
But Bale is now expected to join a new club to keep himself ticking over ahead of the tournament. As well as Getafe, Bale has also been linked with a move the MLS and an emotional switch to his hometown club, Cardiff City.
However, a romantic return to Tottenham is seemingly not on the cards. Antonio Conte and managing director of football Fabio Paratici reportedly have 'no interest' in bring Bale back to the club for a third spell.
