Manchester United icon Gary Neville has branded Gabby Agbonlahor a “cheeky b******” for the former Aston Villa man’s continuous comments against the Sky Sports pundit. Neville had clearly been irked by Agbonlahor’s consistent jibes during his talkSPORT radio show and hit out at the ex-striker during a live show of The Overlap in Dublin.

Roy Keane, alongside Neville for the taping, had jokingly picked out Agbonlahor as his toughest-ever opponent before the former right-back brought up previous comments. “He slags me off every week on that radio show,” Neville claimed.

“They tag me on Twitter and it really f**** me off, honestly. He will be asked who was the player that you’d like to play against most and he’ll go, ‘You know what? It was Gary Neville at Manchester United’. You cheeky b******. You didn’t win one against us in 25 years!”

Agbonlahor may still harbour some resentment over Neville’s Monday Night Football analysis of his first half in Villa’s 3-1 defeat to Tottenham in 2015. “They have got to start touching the ball,” Neville said at half-time. “We looked at Gabriel Agbonlahor who is a centre-forward, I had to check I thought ‘That’s not right, that’.

“Eight touches in the first half is the lowest touches of any player this season in the Premier League – and two of them were kick-offs! So I am concerned a little bit, he has not got a touch anywhere near the 18-yard box so they have got to get the ball into the centre-forward, they have got to get hold of the ball somehow because I mean you have got absolutely no chance if you don’t have the centre-forward involved in the game.

“Eight touches and two of them being the kick-off is worrying,” his criticism of Villa and Agbonlahor was met by laughter from Jamie Carragher and Frank Lampard in the studio with Neville.

While Gary is not the only member of the Neville family that Agbonlahor has feuded with, as he was called out by Phil Neville – Gary’s brother and former United team-mate – for comments he made over the England setup in previous years.

Agbonlahor had claimed that the likes of David Beckham would not speak with the players who had been called up from mid-table sides such as himself, to which Neville responded with: “All BS this!!!” on Twitter. Agbonlahor then hit back and brought up the Inter Miami boss’ managerial record.

“We get it Phil! Have ya bosses back!” Agbonlahor replied. “U didn’t play for England after 2007? Before I started going into England squads!! Maybe concentrate on winning a few games in the MLS and get off Twitter.”
