England manager Gareth Southgate has named 25 players in his latest squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup Qualifiers. The camp has some fresh faces as the Three Lions prepare to face Hungary, Andorra and Poland next month.
Southgate has named a strong squad as England return for the first time since enduring Euro 2020 final heartbreak at the hands of Italy in July.
His young side reached the nation’s first major international final in 55 years at Wembley Stadium but faced agony on penalties.
Notable absentees from Southgate’s latest selection include Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford and Manchester City’s Phil Foden.
Chilwell’s game time has been limited due to Thomas Tuchel’s preference of Marcos Alonso at left-wing-back, whilst Rashford and Foden are nursing injuries.

After his European Championship absence, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold returns to the squad as one of four right-backs.
Jesse Lingard returns after missing the final cut in the summer, whilst there’s a first call-up for Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford.
Nick Pope is also back in, replacing new Arsenal man Aaron Ramsdale as Southgate’s third goalkeeper.
Despite question marks over his fitness, Jordan Henderson once again keeps his place within the international set-up.
Away from the high-profile and expected absentees, there are a few names who many will be surprised are not in Southgate’s squad.
Mason Greenwood was tipped to return after missing out on a Euro 2020 spot through injury, but he’s not been selected.
James Ward-Prowse was also unfortunate to miss out in the summer, and he’s absent again, likely to accommodate Henderson.
Danny Ings has started life at Aston Villa in fine fashion but misses out with Bamford seemingly preferred.
