Yerry Mina was confronted by angry Everton fans on the street on Saturday night, while team-mate Anthony Gordon’s car was blocked by a swarm of raging supporters.

Everton’s 2-1 defeat to bottom of the table Southampton saw them descend even further into relegation trouble. The dismal loss sparked protests from Toffees fans, who gave the team a hostile reception at full-time and refused to leave the ground after the game.

The unsavoury scenes spilled outside of the stadium post-match, with Everton supporters surrounding and blocking players who were leaving Goodison Park in their own cars. One of those hounded was centre-back Mina, an unused substitute against the Saints, who spoke directly to fans on foot.

One fan could be heard on footage shared on Twitter telling Mina: "You're going to leave us if we go down aren't ya, if we go the Championship, you'll leave won't ya? You'll leave. If we go down to the Championship, will you stay? No you won't. If we go down, will you stay? I want you to show heart lad.”

Mina listened to the group’s concerns, though his response was inaudible. He then pointed to the Everton badge while the Toffees fan became increasingly animated.

"Show us a bit of heart then. Be a leader. Speak out. All we want is passion. Show us a bit of passion. Start speaking up lad," he said.

The Colombian centre-back kept his cool, saying “I will give my life for this club,” and even shook hands with several fans who were blocking his car.

The fan told the 28-year-old: “Show them you're the man. Be our captain lad, you could be our captain if you speak up. Wear the armband. Speak up."

A police officer then appeared from behind Mina and encouraged him to get back inside his vehicle.

Meanwhile, videos have surfaced of winger Anthony Gordon driving away from fans who chased his car down the road.

Raging supporters surrounded Gordon’s car and screamed obscenities as he left Goodison Park. One individual could be heard shouting: “"You f****** d***head. Eh, you f****** d***head. Gordon, what the f*** lad? Gordon, what the f*** lad?"

Others chanted at the former £60m Chelsea target "get out of our club" and "you're not fit to wear the shirt". It came as Everton suffered their 10th defeat of the season.

Lampard’s side are currently 19th in the table with just three wins, and face a trip to gellow strugglers West Ham next Saturday.

Everton’s Board of Directors did not attend Saturday’s game at Goodison Park due to threats to their safety. And things aren't going to get any easier for those at the club.
