Fulham fans fury at ticket price for Liverpool game with £90 for restricted view

Fulham fans have been left fuming after discovering the club's "embarrassingly" high ticket prices for next season.

Ticket prices for the Cottagers' opening Premier League game of the 2022/23 season against Liverpool have been released. But any excitement fans had built up over the off-season toward a return to Craven Cottage quickly turned to anger after realising how much they were being charged for matchday tickets.

Screenshots posted to Twitter by various Fulham supporters quickly gathered attention as fans complained about eye-watering fees of up to £100, which is the new price for a single adult or over-65s/18-21 ticket – despite the fact the country is in the middle of a cost of living crisis.

Even more shocking, as one Fulham fan pointed out, was the £90 being demanded for adult seats in the Johnny Haynes stand, which famously boasts wooden seats and restricted views in all its luxury.

The supporter wrote: "£90 for JH (Johnny Haynes),” along with several laughing face emojis, while another responded with: "£90 for restricted views."

A ticket in the Riverside stand will cost £100 for adults and over 65s/18-21, with an U17 ticket priced at £70. In the Johnny Haynes stand, adult fans will be charged £90, while an over 65/18-21 ticket will cost £85 and an U17 ticket £70. The cheapest adult ticket is £30 in the Johnny Haynes family stand, with a child's ticket £20 in that area.

One Twitter user wrote: "What 18-21 year old do you know that can afford £60 a ticket every other week?! That's more than a week's worth of food for a student".

Another Fulham supporter said: "It's literally offensive to our loyal fans to set such prices in the middle of the biggest cost of living crisis in decades. Lots of people likely to be priced out completely."

Other fans also vented their anger at the perceived opportunism by a club which has only just returned to the top flight, after clinching promotion last season.

One wrote: "A shambles how the club have got these prices so wrong (again). I gave them due credit for ST prices, but these matchday costs are just awful."

Another tweeted: "Embarrassing prices for people who don’t have STickets. This will just price out fans and bring in tourists," while a third added: "1/3 of my season ticket for one game in the riverside, we are disgraceful."

Liverpool fans joined in the condemnation of the pricing, with one posting observing: "The £30 away [ticket] cap is one of the best things that's happened for fans in this country in a long time. I shudder to think what away ends would look like if it hadn't been brought in when you see things like this."

It may be argued that the tickets are more expensive due to the nature of the opponent, but as a point of reference the maximum price of Crystal Palace tickets for their biggest matches is £65.
