Frank Lampard has five options for next job after pulling out of Norwich race

Frank Lampard has pulled out of the race to become Norwich City manager, meaning his search for a club continues.

The former Chelsea superstar enjoyed a relatively good spell with Derby County despite failing to achieve promotion, before achieving a top-four spot and a FA Cup runner-up place with Chelsea.

But the following season he was sacked after only achieving two wins out of a possible eight in the league, and he’s been out of a job ever since.

Now the vacant Norwich isn’t an option, Daily Star Sport take a look at five other clubs Lampard could take a look at.

Leicester City

This might take some time to do, but as we have seen recently, the managerial roundabout has a real knock-on effect.

As per our exclusive this week, should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer depart Manchester United, the club has its sights set on Brendan Rodgers.

Though the Northern Irish boss has said his focus is with the Foxes, surely the opportunity to manage one of the world’s biggest clubs if it did come available would tempt him away.

And if that happened, Leicester might well look to Lampard to come in and take over the reins.

Watford

Watford are no stranger to dismissing managers on a whim. Claudio Ranieri has been in the dugout for just over a month, but he’s already the second-favourite to be sacked in the Premier League.

The club would grant Lampard the chance to remain in the south and nearby London, while if it was Norwich’s precarious league position that made the former England player pull out of the race with the Canaries, he won’t have that same issue with the Hornets.

Rangers

Steven Gerrard helped Rangers lift their first Scottish Premiership title in ten years, doing so without a loss.

And if the Glasgow club wanted to keep on that familiar trend of former world-class English midfielder, Lampard would be a perfect fit for the role.

But after his taste in the Premier League with Chelsea, he might well choose to bide his time and wait for another opportunity to crop up.

Brentford

Thomas Frank has undoubtedly been phenomenal for the Bees, in helping them achieve promotion and making such a brilliant start to the season.

But they have now lost their last four league games, including a 2-1 defeat to relegation rivals Norwich. All too often newly-promoted sides get overly concerned about the drop the season after and decide to quickly get rid of their manager.

And if that comes for Frank, surely an opportunity to manage a Premier League west London club could be too great to turn down for Lampard.

Al Sadd

Xavi recently left the club to go manage Barcelona. Now the club are searching for a boss to come in and help them achieve the success they had under the Spaniard.

Lampard might see his opportunity as a good stepping stone to lead to other clubs in Europe’s top five leagues, while clubs in Qatar are always wanting to bring in big names to expand their brand.

Stranger things have happened.
