Frank Lampard’s plans at Chelsea for the summer transfer window are likely to change, following the arrival of Thomas Tuchel. The German is expected to put his own stamp on the squad at the end of the season, as he continues his assessment of each player at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel has needed no invitation to shuffle his pack, making several high-profile changes to his starting team since taking over in west London.

Several outcasts including Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Antonio Rudiger have come back in from the cold to play a big part under the German.

Their minutes have come at the expense of a handful of former Lampard favourites including Ben Chilwell, Reece James and N’Golo Kante, who have had to fight their way back into favour.

With a new manager, comes new ideas and that concept is also likely to apply in the transfer market.

Prior to his sacking, Lampard and the Chelsea hierarchy were already beginning to draw up plans for the transfer window.

According to Sky Italia journalist Angelo Mangiante, Lampard was set to target both Declan Rice and Erling Haaland.

It’s no secret that Rice was a signing that Lampard was personally vouching for.

The West Ham defensive midfielder was part of the Blues academy before being released as a teenager.

A reunion looked to be on the cards this summer but as reported by The Athletic, the prospect of a deal could break down should Lampard depart Chelsea, which he later did.

With Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho rejuvenated under the new manager, it seems unlikely that Chelsea will recruit in that area.

As for Haaland, there’s every chance Tuchel will want to work with the Borussia Dortmund talisman.

There’s no manager in world football that would decline the chance to work with one of the brightest young stars in the game.

Tuchel is yet to settle on a No 9 since he came through the door, with Olivier Giroud currently starting up top ahead of Tammy Abraham.

Timo Werner has struggled to make the role his own and has instead been operating from out wide of late.

The former RB Leipzig is struggling to find his feet in the Premier League despite a positive start.

Therefore, Haaland is likely to remain a target while in the case of Rice, Tuchel faces some serious consideration before signing off any transfer, which is likely to exceed £60m.
