Franck Kessie's agent slams exit suggestions by Spanish journalist
Franck Kessie’s agent slams Spanish journalist over ‘unsubstantiated and misleading rumours that he had agreed to leave Barcelona’ after crunch talks with Xavi Hernandez
- Franck Kessie’s representatives have slammed reports linking him with an exit
- The Barcelona midfielder has been linked with a departure by reports in Spain
- Those claims have been rejected and labelled as ‘unfounded news’ by his agent
Franck Kessie’s representatives are furious with reports in Spain linking the Barcelona midfielder with an exit from the club.
The 26-year-old only moved to the LaLiga champions 12 months ago, but is already being touted as one name that could be on his way out as the club look to fund new arrivals with player sales.
Kessie – formerly of AC Milan – was surprisingly revealed by popular Spanish journalist Gerard Romero as destined for a summer departure following talks with Barcelona manager Xavi.
Romero claimed that the player wanted to leave after speaking with the coach following a difficult first season in Spain, however, those reports have been vehemently denied.
Kessie’s representatives Ambition Group slammed the claims in a post on Instagram where they criticised the journalist for publishing ‘unfounded news’.

Rejecting Romero’s allegations they stated: ‘Dear Gerard Romero, we have remarked for the umpteenth time that you have published unfounded news concerning one of our clients (Franck Kessie).
‘Despite ourselves, we inform those who follow us and above all those who follow you that you have never once given exact information regarding Kessie.
‘Ethically we find that it’s a totally wrong way of doing one’s job.
‘So please stop publishing unsubstantiated and misleading information presented as news regarding our client,’ they added.

The unusual action taken by Kessie’s agent douses any suggestions that the player is looking for a way out of the Nou Camp this summer.
He played a bit-part role in last season’s LaLiga title triumph, making 28 league appearances but lasted 90 minutes on just one occasion and started only seven matches.
Place in Barcelona’s midfield will be even more strenuously tested next season given the arrival of former Manchester City Treble-winning captain Ilkay Gundogan.
The German occupies the same box-to-box role that Kessie suits and looks in-line for a starting role within Xavi’s setup next season.
