Four signings Xavi has told Barcelona he wants as next manager – including Pogba

Xavi Hernandez has reportedly informed Barcelona of the four players he wants the club to sign, should he become manager.

Barcelona began life without Ronald Koeman on Saturday, and the Catalan giants could only manage a disappointing 1-1 draw with Alaves at the Camp Nou.

Sergio Barjuan will again take charge of the team for their upcoming Champions League fixture in Ukraine against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday, but Barcelona will be hoping to have Xavi installed as Koeman’s successor in the near future.

And according to media outlet El Nacional, Xavi has already set about making it clear who he would like bring to the Camp Nou.

Here, Daily Star Sport takes a look at those four players and their current situation.

Paul Pogba

The Manchester midfielder continues to face an uncertain future at Old Trafford, amid speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

Pogba’s current deal expires at the June and at present, there appears to be no sign of the Frenchman extending his deal with United.

The 28-year-old will be able to negotiate freely with other clubs from January onwards, and Barcelona could take full advantage of that by signing Pogba on a pre-contract.

Erling Haaland

The Borussia Dortmund forward is said to be Xavi’s top transfer target if he becomes the new Barcelona boss.

Haaland is expected to leave the German giants new summer when his release clause comes into play, but whether Barcelona could afford him with their ongoing financial crisis is questionable.

The 21-year-old has scored an astonishing 70 goals in 69 appearances since joining Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, but the forward is currently facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a hip injury.

Which of these signings would benefit Barcelona the most? Let us know in the comments section.

But signing Haaland certainly won’t be easy, with just about every major club in world football after the Norwegian talisman.

Dani Olmo

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder spent seven years of his youth career with Barcelona, before departing for perennial Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb in 2014.

Olmo is now plying his trade with RB Leipzig, where he has scored 12 goals in 65 Bundesliga appearances for the German side.

The Spaniard can operate on either wing and would be a valuable asset in attack for a Barcelona side who have struggled to break teams down this season.

Jules Kounde

The Frenchman has developed into one of the best central defenders in LaLiga at Sevilla and continues to be highly sought after around Europe.

Kounde almost joined Chelsea in the summer, but the Blues were reportedly put off by Sevilla’s asking price.

The 22-year-old would be the perfect addition to partner Gerard Pique, but like with Haaland, quite where Barcelona would get the funds from to sign him is questionable.

Kounde’s current deal runs until 2024 and El Nacional say Sevilla are demanding a fee of €80million (£67.7m).
