Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s position as manager is under severe scrutiny after a run of extremely poor results. Ralf Rangnick – the man who has played a huge part in the Red Bull Groups’ rise – could be the man to replace him. Express Sport takes a look at four potential signings he could make.
Dani Olmo
Olmo joined Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020, signing a four-year-contract in the process.
The former Barcelona youth graduate has made a real name for himself in Germany, scoring eight goals in 48 Bundesliga appearances, earning a Spain call up in the process.
At just 23 years of age, United would likely have to pay a premium for his services.
However, he would bring a huge supply of flair, playmaking and calmness that United are missing.
Dominik Szoboszlai
Szoboszlai is one of football’s biggest talents at the moment.
The 21-year-old Hungarian has also impressed since moving to Leipzig, and alongside Olmo has brought a unique flair to the Red Bull Arena.
Signing from sister club Salzburg for £17million, his value has already rocketed in just three months of playing.
And United’s need for a central midfielder following the upcoming expiration of Paul Pogba’s contract could see the youngster move to Old Trafford.
Karim Adeyemi
Adeyemi is the next biggest young talent on the hands of Salzburg.
Szoboszlai, Sadio Mane, Erling Haaland, Patson Daka and Naby Keita were the recent former talents to have donned the Studio Wals-Siezenheim.
And Adeyemi’s superb return of 14 goals in 18 matches this season at the age of just 19 has reportedly alerted Liverpool to his talents.
The German has already scored for his country, and could be a superb addition to the United side if they were to steal him from under their bitter rival’s noses.
Erling Haaland
There isn’t a club in the world who would not take the world’s biggest youth prospect Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian has scored nine goals in just six Bundesliga games this season for Borussia Dortmund, bringing his total for the huge outfit to 70 goals in just 69 games.
His reported release clause of £68million next season has alerted all of Europe’s top sides.
And Haaland would provide a top-class option at United for the next 15 years.
Given his Red Bull past, his link with Rangnick could prove crucial to United’s hopes of signing him.
