Billy Gilmour may have to move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer to gain regular minutes having failed to break into Thomas Tuchel’s first team plans at Chelsea. Express Sport takes a look at four clubs who may be options for Gilmour should he seek to leave at the end of the season.

West Ham

The Hammers reportedly showed the most interest in taking Gilmour on loan during the January transfer window.

David Moyes’ side ended up signing Jesse Lingard on loan from Manchester United with the England international making an instant impact at the London Stadium.

But if West Ham fail to hold on to Declan Rice this summer then there will be an opening in their midfield and Gilmour may well see it as an opportunity to prove himself.

Moyes has already indicated on a number of occasions that he wants to focus on signing young players and they may also offer Gilmour the chance to play in Europe next season given their current position in the league table.

Rangers

Gilmour’s move from Rangers to Chelsea back in 2017 was one of several deals which resulted in the Blues receiving their two transfer window ban.

There has since been strong reported interest from Steven Gerrard’s side to bring Gilmour back to his boyhood club.

Chelsea are unlikely to sell Gilmour and Rangers would probably be priced out of a move should he become available.

But a return to Scotland to play in midfield and learn from Gerrard for a season at the Ibrox could be exactly what Gilmour needs to force his way into the Chelsea team.

DON’T MISS

Newcastle

Gilmour may well want to stay in England though and prove himself in the Premier League on a regular basis and Newcastle are another team who have previously been linked with him.

He’s already shown glimpses of his talents in a handful of appearances for Chelsea and at 19 years of age he still has a bright future ahead of him.

Interest in a move to Newcastle may well depend on whether they avoid the drop, but he could quickly become a fan favourite among the Magpies supporters if they manage to stay up.

Newcastle have been crying out for a midfielder of Gilmour’s ability to dominate the game from the middle of the park and the teenager could thrive if given the freedom to fully express himself.

Norwich

Norwich look certain to come back up to the Premier League next season and a number of clubs will be looking at some of their star players.

Oliver Skipp has spent this season on loan from Tottenham but Norwich may well need to bring in a replacement for next season.

Gilmour would come in and fit seamlessly into that role and Norwich’s expansive footbal also fits the mould the Scottish midfielder has been used to at Chelsea.

Daniel Farke has earned high praise for his attack-minded football and Gilmour could come in and add another dimension to their squad should they maintain their promotion push.
