Football Manager’s ‘worst player’ with 1 pace begs FM chiefs for stats change

One of the worst-ever ranked players on Football Manager with a pace rating of just one has begged the game to change his stats.

The 2023 edition of the popular football game was released in November last year. And Brackley Town ace Joshua Flanagan isn't happy with the ability rankings handed to him by developers Sports interactive.

The 23-year-old defender was given a shocking pace ranking of one, which stayed the same even if he accelerated. Plus he was also given the embarrassing one rating for his dribbling, finishing, and pace, making him one of the worst-ranked players in the game's history.

But Flanagan reckons he's been hard done by and pleaded with Football Manager to amend his rankings. He wrote on Twitter addressing the game after a post highlighted his perceived inadequacies: "@FootballManager come and review these stats please?"

However, Football Manager stuck to their guns and told the ex-Northampton Town star that they'd only edit his stats if he can provide video proof of himself running faster. They retorted: "Send over a video of you running and we'll see what we can do," alongside a laughing face emoji.

The centre-back saw the funny side and posted a clip of himself getting left behind by a Red Vauxhall estate vehicle whilst running slowly, with the caption: "This is as fast as I can go," prompting the sports game to respond: "Attributes look bang on pal."

But Flanagan was adamant that he was faster and urged Football Manager to come and see him in action for Brackley so he can change their minds. He said: "Come and watch me down at @BrackleyTownFC and you’ll see I’m actually a 14 at least."

However, Football Manager were more favourable to Flanagan in the areas that matter as a defender. They gave his positioning a 16, his tackling and leadership a 15, his stamina and heading a 14, and aggression, concentration, jumping reach and strength a ranking of 13.

Surprisingly, the fastest players in the game are Tyler Magloire, a centre-back who plays for Flanagan's former side Northampton Town, along with Wolves speedster Adama Traore and PSG phenomenon Kylian Mbappe, who all have pace and acceleration ratings of 20.

And in comparison to Flanagan being the worst-ranked player on the game, Manchester City ace Kevin De Bruyne was the highest ranked star with a rating of 189 out of 200.

However, there was no spot in top rankings for Cristiano Ronaldo who came in at 100 on the table with a rating of 158/200, and it's unlikely that his rating will improve after he scurried away to Saudi Arabia to play for Al Nassr.
