Five Juventus stars who could leave if they miss out on Champions League

Juventus are facing the grim prospect of failing to qualify for the Champions League next season after suffering a 3-0 defeat at home to AC Milan on Sunday.

Andrea Pirlo has endured a miserable debut campaign in the Juve hot-seat, winning just 20 out of 35 matches in Serie A this term.

Sunday's shortcoming against Milan marked a new low for the Old Lady, who now find themselves one point adrift of the top four down in fifth place.

So if Juve fail to secure a place in the Champions League next season, which players could head for the Turin exit this summer?

Cristiano Ronaldo

Juve missing out on qualification for Europe's elite club competition will plunge Ronaldo's future at the club into serious doubt.

Talk of a potential departure for the Portuguese superstar was already rife before their place in the top four became under serious threat.

It is difficult to envisage him sticking around and playing Europa League football next season, meaning a move back to Real Madrid or Manchester United could come to fruition.

Matthijs de Ligt

The Italian giants got their hands on one of the brightest young stars in world football when they signed De Ligt from Ajax for £73million in 2019.

His time in Turin has not exactly gone to plan so far, with Juve failing to make it past the last-16 stage of the Champions League in each of his two seasons at the club.

Should they miss out on qualification, De Ligt could push for a summer departure amid reported interest from Barcelona and Chelsea.

The Argentina international has long been linked with a move away from Juve, and failure to qualify for the Champions League may force them to cash in on him and raise funds this summer.

He only has a year remaining on his contract, too, meaning the next transfer window will represent their last opportunity to offload him before he can begin negotiating a free move abroad.

Tottenham have been tipped to sign Dybala in the past, while Manchester United are also said to be interested.

    Alex Sandro

Another Juve ace whose future has been the subject of speculation for many a year, Sandro has been attracting attention from a host of clubs and could push for a transfer if Champions League football is not on the cards next term.

Chelsea are understood to be admirers of the left-back, who still has two years to run on his current contract.

Reports recently emerged claiming Juve could try to include Blues outcast Emerson Palmieri in a potential player-plus-cash deal for Sandro.

    Dejan Kulusevski

The 21-year-old is rated very highly by Juve chiefs, and with his contract not due to expire until 2025 it will be more difficult to prise him away from Turin this summer.

Nevertheless, with Manchester United reportedly eyeing up a potential move, failure to qualify for the Champions League could turn Kulusevski's head.

United are on course to secure their place in the competition next season, meaning he could try to force through a switch to Old Trafford.
