Fernandes identifies Man Utd’s "problems" and pleasing dressing room reaction

Bruno Fernandes has admitted Man Utd "still have problems" despite them topping the table a year on from his arrival.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a revelation at Old Trafford since his move from Sporting Lisbon, and a key driver in their change in fortunes on the pitch.

Title talk is already beginning to swirl amid their recent good form, which has seen United go 14 games unbeaten in the Premier League.

And Fernandes has pinpointed the moment he began to believe he and his teammates had the required desire to win the trophy.

"After the Leicester game when we drew in the last minute, I was really happy to see the frustration on the team when I got to the dressing room," Fernandes said.

"It was the first time I saw a real frustration after drawing a game. I think we have to build on this and more and more be prepared, when we lose one game, to keep going on the same level."

Fernandes had put United into the lead late on in that fixture at the King Power stadium on Boxing Day, but Jamie Vardy's deflected shot off Axel Tuanzebe levelled the scoring just minutes from time.

Since then United have won four of their five Premier League matches, with their only draw coming against rivals Liverpool at Anfield last week.

But Fernandes is aware there are elements of United's game they need to improve on if they want to be crowned champions.

"When I arrived I could see that the team was growing up," he added. "Game by game, we started to do better and better.
