Fans think Julian Alvarez is ‘Speedo Mick tribute’ as he gives shorts to fan
Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez earned himself comparisons to charity legend Speedo Mick as he gave away his shorts.
After kickstarting City's comeback against Tottenham last night (January 19), which saw them overturn a two-goal deficit to win 4-2, Alvarez headed over to a supporter of his former side River Plate who was in the Etihad crowd.
Rather than give him his shirt, the 22-year-old proceeded to pull down his shorts instead. The fan was overjoyed as he waved them above his head – but viewers watching on at home were bemused at seeing Alvarez's tighty-whities.

One joked he looked like Speedo Mick, who has raised nearly £1million from his brutal walks wearing only his Everton swimmers.
They tweeted: "Julian Alvarez gives his shorts to a fan after City's win. Either another piece of avant garde tactics from Pep or a Speedo Mick Tribute."
Another baffled fan commented: "Julian Alvarez just…handed his shorts to a man in a River Plate jacket???? And ran off the pitch in his jock strap????"
Should Alvarez be a starter in the City side? Let us know in the comments section.
One asked: "Why did Julian Alvarez get down to his panties and give his shorts to this guy, can we please be serious."
And another echoed: "Why did Julian Alvarez give this man his shorts? I’ve never seen that happen in football before."
While it's not a common sight, plenty of players have given away their bottoms rather than their top, including Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic earlier this season.
Alvarez also has previous as he did the same thing while still a River player back in 2021. In fact, it's quite a regular thing in his native Argentina.
The World Cup winner returned to the City starting XI for the first time in the Premier League since lifting the trophy, repaying Pep Guardiola's faith with his seventh goal in all competitions since moving to England last summer.
