Fans sure Pep Guardiola’s ‘swag’ look warrants a ‘points deduction’ for Man City

Rival fans have insisted that Manchester City should receive a "points deduction" due to Pep Guardiola's touchline "swag".

Guardiola's striking choice of outfit distracted supporters during his side's 3-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The City boss sported a pair of ripped blue jeans and green jumper with a massive P on the chest as he prowled his technical area throughout the match.

City fans praised his style, with one tweeting “Pep’s got swag," after spotting that he had opted against the traditional tracksuit or suit worn by football managers.

However, rivals fans were less convinced and took to social media to mock Guardiola, including one fan who wrote: “Pep got on street clothes?! WTF.” Another added: “Points deduction for City purely for what Pep is wearing.”

A third also commented: “What on earth is Pep wearing?! It’s either a suit or a tracksuit. You can’t rock up to a game of Barclays dressed like a dad nipping to Asda for some bits.” One more wrote: “Pep is wearing uni boy drip. He’s so disrespectful.”

On the pitch, City stormed to a 3-1 victory at home to Brighton, to cut the gap to league leaders Arsenal down to a single point ahead of the Gunners match against Southampton tomorrow.

A brace from Erling Haaland fired the home side into a two-goal lead before half time as he took his Premier League tally for the season to 17 in 11 appearances.

Kevin De Bruyne, who was sporting a mystery shiner around his right eye, then sealed all three points late on after his compatriot Leandro Trossard had pulled one back for the visitors.

Ahead of the match, Guardiola had apologised for reported chants heard in the away end during last weekend's loss away to Liverpool.

Speaking to the media earlier in the week, he explained: "I didn't hear the chant. If it happened I'm so sorry. It does not represent what we are as a team as a club… if this happened."
