Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may be one of the most disappointed players in Chelsea’s squad following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel was relieved of his duties by the Blues on Wednesday, less than a week after completing the £10million signing of Aubameyang from Barcelona.

The pair previously worked together for two seasons at Borussia Dortmund and the former Gabon international was delighted to link up with his former coach.

‘It will be an honour and a joy again [to play under Tuchel], we had some good times in Dortmund together so I am really happy to play for him again,’ Aubameyang said after completing his move to Stamford Bridge.

‘We will achieve some big things, I am sure of this and I will try to help the team.’

A penny for the 33-year-old’s thoughts then after he got just 59 minutes on the pitch as a Chelsea player under Tuchel.

Aubameyang made his Blues debut by starting the 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night and had a goal ruled out for offside before being replaced by Armando Broja just before the hour mark.

Asked about the striker’s performance in what proved to be his final press conference as Chelsea manager, Tuchel said: ‘I will not talk about individuals today. We play as a team, we lose as a team. That’s what it is.’

Aubameyang has scored more goals under the German (79) than any other manager in his career.

Opposition fans on social media were quick to poke fun at him following Tuchel’s sacking.

‘The Aubameyang and Tuchel reunion didn’t last long,’ one supporter wrote on Twitter.

‘Good to see that incredible partnership between Thomas Tuchel and Aubameyang lasted 59 minutes,’ another laughed.

‘Aubameyang wanted to join up with Tuchel again well that lasted long didn’t it,’ a third added.

Chelsea have paid £15million to get rid of Tuchel – with £13million going to the German coach

‘Back Tuchel to the point you sign Aubameyang on deadline day then sack him in the same week, you couldn’t write it,’ said one fan.

Graham Potter is the Blues’ No 1 target as a replacement and they have been given permission by Brighton to speak to the 47-year-old. Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is also high on their list of candidates.
