Fans ask ‘why James Milner’s crying on the bench’ as Liverpool beat Newcastle
Football fans have questioned why James Milner was spotted in tears at the end of Liverpool's clash with Newcastle.
Milner was part of a rotated Liverpool side that looked to move to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday lunchtime. Naby Keita's goal was the difference after a Milner just nicked the ball ahead of Fabian Schar in the first half.
However, when Milner was seen in tears on the bench in the 89th minute as Liverpool saw out the win. Fans were quick to question why Milner was in tears on Twitter – with lots tweeting: "Why was Milner crying?"
Milner made the switch to Merseyside in 2015, when his deal ran out at Manchester City.
And the Englishman, who has been a common feature under Jurgen Klopp, is currently without a deal for next season, with his contract up in June. It's very possible Milner was in tears as he realised Saturday was one of his final games for Liverpool.
Klopp can't afford to chop and change his lineup much more with Liverpool firing in four competitions.
