Manchester United and Manchester City have discovered their FA Cup quarter-final opponents.

Both teams progressed into the last-eight earlier this week and have been kept apart in the draw.

Karen Carney pulled the numbers out of the hat with City set to travel to Everton and United facing Leicester.

There is a south coast derby as Championship Bournemouth will welcome Southampton while Sheffield United will travel to Barnsley or Chelsea.

That is the final fifth round clash with the duo going to battle on Thursday evening.

Everton will take on Manchester City having come through a thriller against Tottenham on Wednesday night.

They needed extra time before prevailing 5-4, while City had won 3-1 at Swansea.

Like Everton, Manchester United also needed extra time as they beat West Ham on Tuesday with Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer just glad to make it through.

He said: “It doesn’t really matter, it's by book or by crook maybe, and that’s the main thing in the cup.

“We’re in the hat and we bounce back after the disappointment against Everton. That last goal [by Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the weekend] could be a mental kick in the face and we’ve refocused and reset the heads and done really well.

“It doesn’t matter [whether we are at home] at the moment with the fans. With the travelling, of course, it’s easier to be here at Old Trafford so yes please.

“Of course you want to win every game. We want to challenge and we want to go to the final. That's what we're here at Manchester United for.

“Sometimes you're lucky with draws in the cup – we haven't been that lucky – but obviously we move another step closer to the final.
