England players stand to receive £500,000 in win bonuses from the FA if they lift the World Cup next month, with leading players also in line for commercial bonuses worth several million pounds, each from their personal sponsors.

The Mail on Sunday has learned that the FA have more than doubled the size of the players’ bonus pot from the 2018 World Cup to about £13million, which would be shared among Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad.

Southgate would also receive a bonus of about £3m if England are successful, on top of his £6m-a-year contract.

Gareth Southgate’s England squad will take home a staggering £13million in bonuses

The players’ bonus pot represents a significant increase on the £215,000 they were offered to win the World Cup in Russia four years ago and brings England into line with the other leading nations.

Brazil offer the most generous bonuses, which are largely funded by their £30m-a-year kit deal with Nike, with England’s prize pot similar to those offered by top European countries such as Germany and Belgium.

In addition, England’s top players stand to gain lucrative bonuses from their sponsors if they have a successful tournament.

Each player stands to take home around £500,000 if the Three Lions win the World Cup

As a result of numerous lucrative deals Harry Kane could end up taking home even more
